When I Close My Eyes (The Poem)

When I close my eyes and see your face,
Your lush brown eyes and that cute pretty face,
Filled with curious questions and chirps of joy,
Wow... I just love to see you smile! 

That moment when I look into your eyes,
My mind wanders of to a distant place,
I see myself beside you, 
Lying down on the grass, looking at the starry night,
 as if it were something new.

I lie down on the beachy shores,
Wanting to see you more,
listening to the waves, crashing on the rocks,
And then all of a sudden fate knocks!

I wonder why you had to say what you did,
It broke my heart,
full of thoughts, now shattered to pieces,
and yes I had to part,
realising how life teaches.

I search for answers within myself,
what went wrong? what is the reason?
Maybe, it just wasn't meant to be.

I look to the sky, 
and ask God why.
He shows me two ways,
and then he says,
"You either love someone and cry about her,
or you can be patient,
and see things clear."

I closed my eyes and saw her again,
this time her smile slowly fading away,
I cried hard, I lost my way,
when all of a sudden fate knocks again.

I realise, that sometimes,
life is like that!
If you love something, let it go,
If it comes back, it was definitely yours.

When I close my eyes and drift way,
I see you smile every way,
right into my heart, sore and broken,
and fill it with brightness, happiness and memories,
still unspoken.
